Another terrible episode. Not to mention since when was a bandit magician able to make a robot golem that is better than the ones the advanced civilization made?
The manga is trash it skipped a lot of vital happenings and stuffs.... I'm not even bothering with the anime adaptation anymore.
Wait what, they actually reference Power Rangers!? Wouldn't a Super Sentai make much more sense and be easier to understand for a japanese audience? Still, it's sad that the references are the thing making me more interested in watching the anime now, particularly if they reference Power Rangers, and Gintama, love me some Gintama.
It was more like easter egg in 3 episode (judging from TL note). I thought that the whole scene in the opening is another one too. Whole references to cliche, anime and other stories in series is rather funny. And once again except whole that woman interference in 1 and 3 episodes story very close to WN source at least.
Holy crap, saw the first four episodes and while it sucks as an adaptation, the references get me, like, i think the people behind the anime and Mile have similar tastes as mine! Seriously, when that Rock Golem was building up, i thought "Is this Koutetsu Jeeg, it feels like Koutetsu Jeeg." and then it does the pose and Mile has stars in her eyes and outright calls it a Build Up and i couldn't help but laugh, the Golem...the freaking Golem does a Knuckle Bomber pose. And there are Ultraman references and i like me some Ultraman too, but still, damn, they actually referenced a mecha anime from the 70's! Sure, Jeeg may have went to SRW and there is a humanized version of him as a magical girl in Robot Girls Z, but i don't think he transforms and does that pose while yelling "BUILD UP!" in the games and no one saw Robot Girls Z, so yeah, Mile knowing it, recognizing what is going on and being hyped as hell automatically made me like Mile 1000x times more than before, any girl that likes Jeeg is awesome.
Huh, the backstory is saved for the 5th episode for some reason? Still doesn't have all the details, but it's nice seeing the Wonder Trio appear, but yeah, not the best adaptation ever, and these last few episodes didn't have a blatant Tokusatsu reference or something as cool as Jeeg Golem appear either, sad to say, but this really isn't exactly a great anime nor adaptation.
It's at best a mediocre anime and a lousy adaptation, and it's only mediocre because it's way too "safe" in a way. Honestly, the references are the best thing about it, Showa Ultraman, Super Sentai, Dragon Ball, Koutetsu Jeeg, it's fun seeing and recognizing those references, but other shows also have them. There's no reason to watch the show over reading the LN, at best, only saving a clip of the Golem transformation and sending it to Mecha fans or the clip of the Crimson Vow doing a rolecall to Tokusatsu fans, that's about all it's worth for so far.
Power Rangers is Super Sentai, just heavily modified. It would be more accurate to call it a Super Sentai reference if we wanna get technical.
So the complaint is that this anime is average? Feels mightily ironic given the title of the novel is average
The anime is quite below average. They completely destroyed the world building in favor of throwing out random puns all the time. And even those jokes are average at best.
Pretty much, after seeing everything, it's mostly just waiting for a reference and hoping to get it. Oh look, Lightning Break when she pretends to be a Goddess's envoy...i get it, it's Great Mazinger's Thunder Break, maybe less 70's(and 80's) anime and Tokusatsu references and more adapting what the LN actually has? So far it would make for a better series, references only make me like happy and saying "Neat!" for one or two seconds because i recognize it, doesn't really make for a memorable series in the long run though, and the anime...really feels like it's going through the motions and being utterly generic and less fun than the LN at every turn.
