I've tried it once and put a tiny text of something else below it.
Result was that the bot deleted the actual content and posted the tiny text instead. Also the site got slow because I linked my text to the same page and wordpress auto link each sentence separately if you select the text and ctrl-v the link. Took them a while to get through the text though, only to copy the wrong text.
I do have to change styles for it though, or readers will get annoyed accidentally pressing on the links.

I didn't do it anymore because we're using this high contrast thing on wordpress and I can't change the link style to not be shown, because I have no access to it and admin has neither time nor motivation.

I remember seeing full text in picture format as a measure against bots
Also saw half text-half pic version

What about passwords? Do bots bypass that?

They usually don't, but your release won't show on NU then.

No, password protected releases are not allowed on NU.

If you make the password really visible in a really obvious place, the mods might allow it, but it would be something handled on a case by case basis.

    Usually though, they don't.

In conclusion, there isn't a single measure that can be used that won't disturb the experience in reader mode? Because reader mode seems to strip away any formatting done...

There is one way, not post it at NU's database at all and let all your readers subscribe to your site for updates. With that they can't automatically copy the chapters and if many does this then they'll just die at their own. But that will cause NU to also lose its main role. Well it's your choice.

    (y) I've put in "credit images" or maybe "nag images" that the bots of some (not all) websites copy. Example below. I feel this is okay compared to other methods. It doesn't seem to annoy readers.

It's like in manga, the last image is the one that has all the credits for the scanlator group. In my announcement post I note which manga I took the image from in case my readers want to check it out and to give credit to the mangaka. This particular one is a manhua (Chinese webcomic) not a manga. Miao Shou Xian Dan https://mangadex.org/manga/21448/miao-shou-xian-dan.

Example of announcement post - http://bcnovels.com/chapter-32-every-day-the-protagonist-wants-to-beep-me/

And of course I put it in the chapter either at the beginning, end, or when there is a break (like a POV change or time skip) in the raws.

Lol, yeah, that's why I won't be using that method--because I also love keeping tabs with the novels I'm reading with NU!

Yeah, having at least some ways to credit the content back to us even if the aggregator scraped it would be nice.
But I've seen aggregator sites that don't seem to copy anything else aside from text. Would changing the image into credit text work well and not disturbing the readers, I wonder OvO/
PS: The image you're using as the credit image is nice!

Looks like a good idea but when you are posting 60 chapters a month , it will be cumbersome.

hahahaha. although I'm a translator i will still use an aggregator site from time to time. ie dead translator links or poor ux. usually i try to visit the translator and leave encouraging comments. but like others have said if the site is hard to use it's no good.

one thing i found to have worked (so far) is back dating the release on nu. the moment i used the same release date my translations appeared on bot sites.

i should also say i haven't scripted an rss feed. I'll try one this month and see how that goes.

Hi everyone. I just tried this one out. It really works out that no one can copy my content. Basically just follow this:

This is a coding tutorial on how to disable copy-paste on your blog. It only works if you use a site that allows you to edit the HTML code.

Disabling right click is unfortunately irrelevant; these aggregators aren't humans manually copying, it's bots doing it automatically. (And even if it was humans, they could simply press F12 and grab the text directly). If there was a solution as straightforward as this, we would've been doing it since 2016 and aggregators would never have taken off.

Well. I'm still new to this whole thing. How about DCMA?

Hmm. What an interesting skill you have here...
