A competition to determine the smartest character in all of fiction. Characters from different fictions will be pit against each other in a battle of wits to determine who deserves the title of greatest Intellectual. Scenario: The characters will be nominated for the battles, and their feats will be displayed. Arguments can be made for any character, and why said character will win the battle of wits. Remember the principle of "show not tell". No one cares if the author said X character was able to prove the Riemann hypothesis at age 3. That is irrelevant to this battle unless said character had feats of outsmarting other characters, impressive displays of deduction, and other displays of intelligence. Voting will run for a while(a month at the very least) after which polls will decide the victor. RULES: Each Person has 2 nominations (you can nominate already nominated characters) the more nominations a character has, the higher their chance of entering the poll. A maximum of n(I think it's 10 with Xenforo) characters can participate. To prevent flooding the contest with a single verse, only 2 characters may participate from a particular Universe Only 'round' characters in a particular Universe are eligible(major protagonist and antagonist) The ability to change votes will be withdrawn a few days prior to the end of voting to prevent trolls from ruining the contest. k(2 or 3 as the case maybe) nominations for a particular character, automatically enter them into the contest. Assume battle takes place as a free for all battle royal, where contestants are playing a sort of 'blindfolded' chess(a battle of wits with imperfect information and is zero sum. Characters get eliminated, lastan standing is the winner. A game of war for example) . They will all meet each other and have possibility to communicate for 6 hours before the competition starts. When making arguments for your character, keep them as in-character as possible. Characters can actively cooperate, but only if that is IC for them. All Franchises are allowed. For lesser known franchises please link to a franchise wiki. I will seed the contest with two characters Omniscient or nigh-omniscient characters are not allowed. No 'supernatural' abilities allowed. 'God's will grant any wish of the winner, so characters are as motivated as possible(or just assume all characters have Max motivation) The two characters I nominate: Light Yagami from Death Note Dantalian from Dungeon Defense I really wanted to add Ikta Solork and Lelouch vi Brittania, but I'll bet on these two. Please nominate the rest.
Also Light Yagami will win hands down.Dantalian is clever and twisted,no doubt and i love him but he dominates because of his previous knowledge of the world.Light Yagami doesn't have that previous knowledge to fall back upon.Dantalian completely knows the general direction of the future So he has a huge advantage.Thats why my winner is Light Yagami.
I'm really tempted to add Sora and Shiro from No Game No Life, but I don't know them well enough to say they would be worthy adversaries(as in survive long enough).
1 Shinichi Akiyama / LIARS GAME 2 L / DEAD NOTE Liars game is almost same as rules you mention great manga
Nominate other characters too. L, Fatness, etc. How good is Light at Politics though. At war? Lights may have an S in intelligence(Dantalian is only A+), but how good will he be at Politics. If Dantalian assesses Light as a threat during the intros, don't you think he might form alliances to take him down. Manipulate others, etc. Light may be smarter, but I believe Dantalian is more equipped for this kind of battle.
From Dungeon Defense [A former rank 4.9 novel(dropped to 4.7 due to some pussies)] You should read it. Dantalian can give Light a run for his money.
Tbh Light is excellent if he got a ryuuk with him. without ryuuk L will win. Sinichi is great he has only his intelect same as L
