Listen, when you reply to an argument, you do not get to completely redefine what that argument was.

Brasca made an argument, and I agreed with him. This argument was about FAN TRANSLATORS charging money to read their translations.
Qidian is not in any way shape or form an example of that.
You are trying to redefine it, which is what is called a strawman

Qidian is an asian site where the original releases are released. (the raws). In the future there will be an english site which they are planning to branch into, but currently we only have speculation on how they would monetize it

You know what, you appear to be right. I have been looking into it and it really does seem like webnovels seem to average some 2000 words per "chapter". While modern books appear to indeed average around 300.
Pretty odd how few words books have nowadays. Probably due to how physically tiny paperback books are.

Doesn't help that a lot of the chinese webnovels being translated feel shorter than their actual wordcount.

    1. The OP of this thread is clearly not talking about Qidian and explicitly referring to patraeon fan translators.

    2. It doesn't even matter what the thread is about. You were replying to a quoted argument. When you do that you need to reply to the actual argument you quote, not modify it based on what you believe "the thread is about"
You know what, this is probably it. All the padding and repetition results in very little content per word. (so many novels will literally repeat each statement 3 times in a row)

If you are talking about manga/light novels then yes it is a very niche market in India. You cannot buy physical copies from any real-life shops in India and the only copies are available on e-commerce sites which are imported from US/UK. Anime is not popular because tradionally Indians view cartoons (animations) for children and frown upon teenagers/young adults watching anime.
