Recommendations Movie Recs PLEASE!!

I'm legit so bored of lockdown with assignments piling up above another. Please share some movie or drama recommendations to cure someone's boredom!

I don't mind anything, just please no horror things. (I still can't stand it haha!)

 

Squid Game on Netflix. Just watched the first 2 episodes, seems decent.



Yes it's overhyped. Yes it borrows elements from prev Jap dramas/manga. Yes it's not particularly innnovative.
But the cinematography, acting chops and themes seem to woven in pretty well.

 

Police University on dramacool is pretty good.

 

How about something with a little bit of horror (both literally and figuratively speaking) so you can get used to it XD
Otherwise, try something like Bloody monday or Liar game XD

 

If you haven't watched 'The Usual Suspects', you should. It's amazing.

 

"Bubbahotep" more of a comedy/action, not really horror about Elvis and a Blackman who thinks that he has JFK's drain in his body to up against an ancient mummy.

"Unbreakable"

 

Belladonna of sadness is really good. Although while its not horror it's definitely pretty... explicit. Theres a lot rape/sexual violence. But it's not scary. The art is amazing I'm pretty sure you can only stream it on tubi.

Loving Vincent is a movie about vincent van gogh animated in oil paint. It's BEAUTIFUL. I think it took like 8 years to make?? One of my favorites.

The breadwinner/everything by cartoon saloon. The breadwinner is specfically about an afghan girl who has to crossdress as a boy because her father was inprisoned. I really like everything by cartoon saloon though because it always has such amazing 2d animation, and you don't see that much anymore.

 

Kdrama: My Love From Another Star - my favorite drama, not sure if you've watched it but it was very popular when it came out. The alien who came to earth 400 years ago (and doesn't want to get into any human relationships) falls in love with an actress just as he is about to leave.

Cdrama: Love Is Sweet - Office romance drama. The relationship between the main couple is very good.

Movie: Catch Me If You Can - stars Leo DiCaprio! Actually this was the movie I watched most recently. The MC is the definition of 'fake it until you make it'

It's a crime drama from the mid 90s. I'm pretty sure you can get it anywhere movies are streamed. Hell, pretty sure it'd be easy to torrent... not that I'd suggest that. Noooooo.

 

well, its follows this one guy trying to deliver vincent's last letter but the recipient is dead. It's really just a biography with some really amazing aesthetics. So, no XD

My favorite romcom on Netflix is "50 First Dates". I never get tired of rewatching it.

The Chinese series are costume dramas focusing mainly on scheming. I just realized that I don't actually watch many Chinese dramas, especially those in other genres.

The Korean dramas are romcoms set in modern day. Because I am a fan of crime procedurals, I dislike all Korean police/crime/whodunnit shows for sacrificing logic and characters' IQ in favor of shock and drama. That's okay for romcoms, but it's not okay when your MC is doing detective work to catch a culprit.

 

Just finished the entire "Squid Game" series. Had it's draggy, inconsistent moments, but overall every episode had strong scenes that delivered.

Definitely worth watching.
