I have an MC whose familiar is a tree, the kind that stays on his soul until summoned, it has a smidgen of spatial affinity that a allows it to materialize only parts of its wood, and the MC mostly summons it as a quarterstaff when in battle It can also be a shield, palisade or building as it levels up, but i want to give it a name that emphasizes the quarterstaff use Im on the "screw it" phase and about to just call it "Iggy," but i want to hear other ideas first I was also close to call it Woody to emphasize the "Big Stick Energy" Im also partial towards names that make reference to a tree's crown or roots, but the quarterstaff is the main theme
The Names for Trees that i can think of are "Ydrassil", maybe short form 'Sil or Dras'. "Aeon" is another Name that i can think of, but i can't think of more at the moment.
how about Ebony Ring? ring as in the rings in the tree trunk that represent it's age. (Just an idea, u can call the upgraded forms or stuff like Ebony Ring X or Ring XX)
Staff in Latin is virga, so I'd go with Virgil in honor of that. Virgil happens to be Latin for virgin, but you can always look past that

Ostara is another name for the spring equinox which reminds me of growing plants and trees so Ostara might be nice

"Iggy" is already a shortened form of Yggdrasil, and Aeon is taken A hard, long, thick stick called virgin? Thats too much of a dick joke Wicker sounds cool, and it can be shortened to Wick Now, if there as a "staff" world to match it with, that would be perfect

Hamadryad/Dryad- a nymph or nature spirit who lives in trees and takes a form of a beautiful woman (greek mythology) Aranyani- goddess of forest and the animals that live within them, symbolizes trees etc. Daphane- a tree whose leaves, formed into garlands, associated with apollo
"Babylon" can be a term for AoE spells. (need not be offinsive either Like the last scene in guardians of the galaxy where groot makes a dome). "Gungnir" is good name and keeping with the norse theme "Odinstaff" sounds cool
Meh, to starters with : what tree ? obviously, a baobab, a plum tree, a sequoia or an oak don’t give the same vibe at all What they give away (fruits, flowers, types of leafs), the place they grow into and influence, or how dense is the forest surrounding them , how they communicate through he air and their roots, all of that can bring richer type of inspiration maybe ?
