Have't really watched Anime for a while, but you could try Full Metal Panic!, only "recent" anime I have watched is Darling in the Franxx. I pretty much skipped all the mecha fight because those mechas were too cringe, but drama and human aspect of the story was really good.

Oh man, I have too many One piece episodes backed up :D I think I watched series at least couple times when there were 500~ episodes.

Eh, it started out interesting but development was pretty uninteresting.

Darker than Black is kind of dark, but I wouldn't really call it too sad. But it's really good.

Well i suppose if u want kind of a sad ending "now and then, here and there" was quite depressing and i havent watched it yet but i think "made in abyss" is supposed to be a sad one

it was so bad, it was good??

Sure there were parts that I hated like how they rushed some episodes and left a lot of questions unanswered, but overall apart from that the story itself was good, and the idea behind it I liked, though the choices towards the end of the second season I hated, wish they made a redo of it or simple did a season 3.
