I think you've done the opposite but I like this better. The way you've mentioned is very unintuitive.

 

I put so little stock in ratings I don't even know where to look to find them

 

If tags are meant to be hidden for the purpose of not knowing (spoiling)what the novel has to offer,then shouldn't reviews that lay directly at end of page ,which vaguely give away the same information as that of tags be considered too.And tags which may discourage a user to skip a novel like polygamy,ntr,slaves etc are uncommon in the first place.Tags may be spoiling the basic foundations of a novel but aren't they meant to do just that and if someone accidentally hides a tag for himself and later finds it difficult upon learning that it(novel) all ended on a tragic note, wouldn't it be better otherwise.I am just representing a view here and I also think adding another feature such as this will be convenient but then errors like these may come to existence.

 

....i understand the reason behind this...but it seems kinda useless at the same time....like, they just tags, bro. their purpose is pretty much to spoil you. Like, they give generalized spoiler. In the way of tellin' ya, "this is what the story is gon have, whether you like it or not. Deal with it, or dont read."

 

There are 2 types of tags imo. Those that tell you what kinda story it is similar to knowing its genre, others that tell you more about what kinda develops are going to happen, which are more spoilery. For example a genderbender tag is likely more of a premise than a development. There isn't much being spoiled with that tag usually.

Edit: This is also why i would like to hide individual tags. Some development tags (Like NTR) I like knowing because I would like to avoid them. Others that I am fine with I would rather not know in advance.

Well, the only tag that really spoils it for me is the 'tragedy' tag. I just won't read the novel because I feel like I know how it will end... badly

i dont know fam. If im gonna read a story, and i see a spoilerish tag, then it helps a lot. Like yeah, some tags can be more spoilerish than others, but if there's gonna be a developement in a story that i wont like then imma want to see a tag sorta describing it so i know in advance to avoid the story. Like a rape or NTR tag. At the very least i can see the tag, know what's gon happen in the story, and either look at the reviews or ask someone what the exact context is so i can decide if i wanna read it or not.

there's only two things that can happen when you see a spoilerish tag. Either you gonna be like what i said above, and dislike the story due to the tag, or you gonna like the story more for it. You see a spoilerish tag, but its describing a developement that you would like, there be no problem.

But if you hide a tag, like NTR or rape, then you dont see that shit comin'. You completely goin' in blind, then it just jumps out at you and you be like, "oh god, why did i hide the tag, i fucked myself by doin' that! Dammit, i cant handle this shit, not like this! Abort, abort!"

I'd rather go in with all the cards laid bare, ya know? I'd like to know what imma be gettin' myself into, rather than just have something i may not like creep up on me and catch me off-guard n vulnerable n shit like dat. Hidin' tags just seems like a very masochistic thing to do. Its fine it its something you like, like i said before, but still...
