Voice actors resigned on Wednesday with novel creator in controversy

The official website for the anime adaptation of MINE's [New Life+] Young Again in Another World (Nidome no Jinsei o Isekai de) light novels announced on Wednesday that the production and broadcast of the anime has been cancelled. The production committee's announcement cites many concerns raised after the anime was revealed, and the message also includes an apology.

Due to the novel author's right-wing, protagonist of Japan at WW2 and some hate speech tweets, also the main character's background story may refer Second Sino-Japanese War, many People at China criticize him at author and voice actor's twitter home like:

I don't know if I'm just getting flashbacks of recent animes getting canceled, but I thought someone else made a thread about this already.

I don't know if there's a deeper reason behind this...but from what I see here, this sounds incredibly stupid.

Are they really cancelling an anime and stopping it's novel shipments because of some butthurt Chinese?

I saw this on reddit but never read the novel so doesn't matter much too me. They said not just is the anime that got cancelled, the publisher dropped the novel as well. So no more shipping or sales of it will be happening from now on. Kinda screws over the community and those into the story but bottom line is no one wants that kind of bad press of being associated with blatant racism in any form.

The author made disparaging remarking on social media. Thereafter, everyone involved in the novels and the planned anime began distancing themselves from the author. Typical right-winged self-immolation.

 

They could have just changed it from Chinese from Jumpanese or something that does not exist
The same with Roseanne, it is overkill
Too many people involved, should have fired just one person or made a simple change

 

It's more like the author's remarks on twitter ended up making the very production staff quitting, clearly showing that not only were the Chinese against him, but the Japanese wanted nothing to do with it.

Anyone know if the novel was any good? What I read of it was boring as fucking hell.

 

Seems like a novel as generic as it can be, I didn't hear a single good point of it from other readers, so... Meh.

I'm not even sad about a generic novel getting axed but it is such a shame for the ones supporting the project.
If the author wasn't a extreme right racist asshole I might have probably read/watched it even if it's just to appease my boredom.
