    A decent phone camera with Google Translate mobile app’s OCR function is already good enough, and it’s a lot more cost-effective.

    In fact, out of everything I’ve trued, Google Translate’s OCR is the most reliable thing that’s available publicly right now. It’s going to be hard to top that.

    OCR has been around for a while. Most electronic records have been professionally created using this technology.

    Not that I'm up with scanner technology, but I haven't heard of curve flattening before. That's a pretty big thing for scanlation convenience if it doesn't screw up the image. Idk that anyone's gonna pay that much for just manga scanning, though. Though book mashing's less convenient, it still gets the job done.
