I tend to specifically look under certain tags/genres and was wondering if there could be a search option of "Created" or "Date Created". It would be great if there was such a option to see the latest created entries in Novel Updates which have some chapters translated. I did try a roundabout way of making this work using chapters released or amount of reviews in descending order but it seemed to be an ineffective strategy. If someone knows how to do this with the current options then please do inform me regarding it.

if you just want to find novels that were recently added, say 2 month, just go to Latest Series page.
from there, just go back 2-3 page.
you can also click on the filter button (on the top right) and limit the results by including or excluding certain genres.
click once = include (green check mark)
click twice = exclude (red minus)

alternatively, you can use Series Finder.
    1. go to the First Release Date.
    2. choose a date. for example, March, 13, 2019. (that'll give you a 6-months range)
    3. set the option to 'min'.
    4. set any other criteria you want. for example, Genre +Fantasy, Sort Results by 'Chapter, descending'
this is the result from my settings above
