One noob question pls... Does shounen ai tag means BL? I dun seems to saw any BL tag in all novels. Just wondering after read a few novels with a male MC n a male lead love interest...
Yes it is BL, but sometimes shounen-ai will also be tagged when there is an implied BL relationship as well (however that is only every now and then and more likely to happen in comics than in novels). Shounen-Ai is basically romance without smut, and you’ll find out that a lot of these stories will use romance as sub-plot or as a slowish burn or that they will usually be a little more light-hearted without as much serious angst/seriously messed up stuff (like people getting graphically raped or something) that you would find in yaoi. Many shounen-ai stories aren’t too different from BG romance stories, especially the ones with a modern day setting. In other words, it’s Diet BL lol.
