Recommendations Novel in the future with space exploration

    I like this kind of setting for games and movies, so I was wondering if there were any good novels with this setting.

    EDIT: I am mainly looking for ones not set with the characters playing a game, I want it to be reality, however if there are some game setting ones, please list them as well, but please mark them as in a game.

    Skyfire Avenue. Although exploration is not its main premise it does happen. Humans live in the stars and they occupy many many planets. Not exploration like star trek but the mc definitely gets around.

    Stellar Transformation... oh, only now did I see it says 'in the future'... and unfortunately time is probably the last thing you need to worry about in this novel.

    Skyfire Avenue ( all about traveling in space)
    Swallowed Star ( will start soon in space)
    Stellar Transformations (starts mostly at book 12, when he gets to higher realm and has to travel thru space all the time)
    Galactic Dark Net ( starts from practiclly at the start)

    The Dragonback series also by Zahn
    Novels by Alan Dean Foster set in the Humanx Commonwealth universe
    The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey
    If not:
    Starcruiser Chronicles (warning: incomplete, and you have to use WayBackMachine to read)
    Dawnbringer (It's already mentioned, but I'm seconding it! It has lots of ecchi moments that can get in the way, but it has really interesting backstory[?])
