I have read a lot of getting cool during summer and I notice some differ with the windows as some says leave it open and other leave it close. Which one do you follow?
Open in the morning to moderate sunlight for airing out and shut when the sun gets high overhead or the heat too unbearable. Open again in the evening for the cool breeze or if it's conspicuously absent, close and switch on the air conditioner. Applies only to long, tropical summers and not to pleasant English ones.
Open during the day and closed during the night. Since the windows in the apartment are turned to the South, if I leave them closed during the day, it becomes really stuffy (like sauna stuffy ). Closed during the night to avoid the mosquitoes, and the plethora of Summer flying bugs and creepy crawlers that are looking for a warmer place and a "meal". I do keep the doors inside open during the day as well, in order to create a draft around the house, so it doesn't get too hot.
Open in the morning Close in the afternoon ( when the sun is at peak ) Open again in the night ( to let the hot air go out and cool air come in~ )
