Question Open question to Qidian

Hey @Qidian,

There's something that I'd like to ask. For the translated novels, do you plan on only using the redacted chapters ?
Because right now there's a lot of translators who are mindful of this and publish only the redacted version.
However, I believe there is no need to take China's censorship into account if you plan on publishing internationally.

I'm asking this publicly so that anyone can share their point of view.

I actually quite bothered qith iras redacted version becauae in the past that kind of scene is not really censored in it' translation, although i know for iras the unredacted version is not mean anything to the story line vut it still feels incomplete qhen we read it

 

Original Version. This isn't even need to be the question.
Redacted chapters are always those chapters that got China's Censorship interfered and was forced to cut parts. Some of those cut parts are actually good or what we been waiting for so.....

 

i personally think the uncensored one is better but as Qidian is a Chinese company they might not have a choice in using the redacted one even if its to publish it outside of China

 

What exactly is the point of the redacted versions? Is it because some of the readers are underage?

 

it is the censored version where somethings were removed from the original source...

Yeah that's honestly one of the main reasons I'm asking to be honest.

I think it was because of a new SARFT regulation on 'pornographic and vulgar content'.

 

I am sure most of the novels,if not all, will have PG-13 tags, and will have to remove those special scenes to cover more reader zone ..
Do not forget that Qidian is entering here to do business, not to share porn legally ...

Caressing a thigh, bathing together, etc, can you seriously refer to it as 'porn' ?

And you can just warn the readers about the content, right ? It's like r-16 movies for example, they don't get outright banned from the TV, they just use a PG tag for them.

Sorry but what you're saying doesn't make sense, some stories just aren't meant for children in the first place.

Whoops, sorry for the late response. What a busy day! Back to your question, yes, we would provide redacted version.

 

... But why ?

 

Will there be the possibility of having the original? Like having the option of picking if i want to read the redacted version or original.

 

The original is obviously better. I don't need to read something which had content cut off from it for whatever reason.
