Well im heading to Tokyo, japan for 2 weeks at the end of December. Any suggestions on where i should go? Whats currently on the list. Tsukiji Fish Market Asakusa temple (+ surrounding areas) Open air Onsens skiing Akihabara tokyo Mainly looking for good places to go in Tokyo, Nikko, and near prefectures. Would also like some festivals to do with winter or christmas. I wont be able to rent a car so mostly access by public transport and walking. Also preferable english speaking, idk Japanese. Thanks for the help~~~
If you are planning to go to Tsukiji Fish Marker cause you want to see Live Fish Auction, then it's best to cross that off the list https://tokyocheapo.com/entertainment/toyosu-fish-market-what-to-know/ ^ It's change into Toyosu Fish Market in a new location now, and you won't get to experience the live Tuna auction until next year, and even then it won't be the same. The only place I know the most in Tokyo is Akihabara so.....
Go to random locations that was an inspiration in anime scenes regardless if the anime was shit or not. And take pictures of course.
that famous crossroad, where you can get a contact with truck sama in serious note their amusement park is a must. tell us what japan put in there, that differ from others
Kiyomizudera temple is a must, Ai-chan shared some pictures here last time. That is if it's open at the moment. Would suggest more, but Ai-chan is so busy now can't think of anything else right now. Will update when less busy. But remember, don't go to KFC in December unless you want to feel how the Japanese feel during the festive season. You can also go to AKB's main studio at Don Quijote in Akiba. That's if you like that stuff, Ai-chan wanted to try going there, but considering that all of the members Ai-chan loved had graduated, there's no real reason to go in.
Tokyo is OVERRATED! Go to Kyoto, Nara and Himeji instead. Its pretty in Kyoto in Autumn. Akihabara is a tourist trap. you will loose nothing by not visiting there. My favorate place in Tokyo was Ueno. And Shibuya. And Harajuku
I thought he was going to tokyo , kiyomizudera is at kyoto :v. But yeah kiyomizudera was a nice place unless he takes a JR pass , it'll costs him more than 200$ to do tokyo kyoto so depends of his budget and what he wants to do , he said near tokyo and nikko so he can't I guess.
True, it's in Kyoto, but it's only several hours of train ride away and it's for 2 weeks vacation. A waste not to go to Kiyomizudera after going so far. Oh yeah, since Ai-chan suggests to go to Kyoto as well, let's not forget Fushimi Inari Taisha, the main fox temple. All the best stuff for tourists are in Kyoto anyway.
Well for "touristic stuffs , I agree that I did more visits and all those stuffs there but Tokyo is also nice though more expensive overall and well it all depends of what u're gonna do there , I went to a lot of cities and also to japanese rural areas and spent some time at a friend family place in the rural areas of fukuoka. Tokyo-Kyoto is quite expensive so it's nice if he can go to see stuffs there but if he can't due to the price , there are a lot of stuffs to do and enjoy near tokyo.
All you need to do to go to kyoto from tokyo is to do a handstand. Boom, you're in kyoto now. No need to thank me.
The convience chain store Sunkus has the best melon pan in Tokyo. I’d also recommend trying the drink C.C. Lemon, but both are nearly impossible to get in the U.S., so if you’re from the U.S., maybe you shouldn’t. I’ve spent the last ten years of my life having recurring dreams of making pilgrimages to Tokyo to try to find Sunkus’ melon pan. Not joking. Oh, and I loved Akihabara btw. I made sure to go there several times. It’s another one of my recurring dreams.
Ahh yea i will rember that Last time i went to tokyo was like 8 years ago and it was still tsukiji. I feel so attacked rn. I have been to most cities in japan. Currently doing around 2 cities a year but tokyo is still a must go place even if its overrated. Also best place is Nara fite me Haha i will remeber to try some. Not from us thou. Unfortunately thats in osaka and yes i have been there. It was pretty damn impressive.
Unfortunatly im not going to kyoto this time. Spent about 2 weeks there last year. It was quite busy but there were so many temples to go to it was a great time, legs died thou. I actually managed to get to the top of Fushimi Inari, but had to do it in summer so i was dying by the end. Also i have been to Kiyomizudera but didnt spend much time there. All i remeber is how ancient the wood of the building was.Should go back Wait aint that oyokot??
