You think there is a schedule for DDOS? :/ it'll be off when it's off.

Issues and questions about Nu work better with threads. There's a reason why the suggestions and bug reports and site discussion sub forums exist
A lot of staff keep these subforums on their watch list so even if you don't @ them they'll notice too and if needed they can inform tony herself.

@Tony has left it going for awhile because it dramatically reduced bot traffic and even broke a few aggregators for awhile. And, as far as I'm aware, Opera is the only browser that's having trouble. Well, UC, too, but only until you tick the cloudflare setting for it.

No idea when he'll turn it off. Probably when he's sure it's no longer necessary.

It's not working for me at college on mobile. Maybe the IP of college was blocked or my browser (chrome). Only started like this since the cloud thing was implemented. Literally created an account here to write this. Looking forward to it being removed soon. <3

I turned it off for a bit but the bots wouldn't stop so I'm keeping it on for awhile. I don't have a set date for when I'll turn it off.

Here's a fix posted by someone on the forums if you're using UC browser:

Doesn't work for me anymore. I can load the site up on my mobile browser but not on my desktop. It just shows that cloudflare loading screen and then timeout.

    Please revert back when possible.

Turn off Java. That's how I usually access this site on Firefox.

Seriously, install multiple browsers. Firefox has adblockers and Java turned off, Chrome has my plugins for ePub conversion, Opera is my torrenting browser. Use different browsers for your needs. Except IE. IE is useless.

You probably mean turn on Javascript. Cloudflare won't let you access the site if you have JS turned off... unless it's been changed and I haven't been informed about it?

    Yep, I mean JavaScript.

I usually have it turned off in Safari in my iPad. I have to, since I use an iPad 2 for reading and browsing NU.

I need to turn on JavaScript when I get the cloud flare message, and I turn it off again as soon as soon as it loads properly. Then it runs fine. :D

I also turned off JavaScript in my old computer as well, and using the same steps above, I was able to get past cloud flare. ;)

Yeah I know. I meant I thought you were telling @Freklez to turn off Javascript to be able to access the site but it makes sense now

    Mine work perfectly fine...
I had same problem few months ago when using UC browser, so I need to use another browser. Forgot what I do back then, but it's work for now. :hmm::hmm::hmm:
(Maybe you need to update your browser if it not the latest version)

It is not related to javascript, it is already turned on. I googled it and noticed other people having problems with cloudflare as well.
    Oh well. :'(

Hey, is the bot problem in the forums site or the main page thingy? What do the bots even do?

I am really getting paranoid right now. HOW MUCH LONGER!!?!? Can't you guys at least free the main novelupdate page from this cloudfare stuff?

Why are you getting paranoid? Only bots should be paranoid imo :blobokhand:

I turned it off for a bit and the bots were lagging NU so I kept it on. Honestly, it doesn't seem to be affecting that many users as I compared the traffic to before and after the Cloudflare DDoS protection and I couldn't tell the difference in terms of pageviews.

It's an easy fix though. Which browser are you using?

    :hmm:Are you a bot then @Walter vi Britannia ?

:blobpoliceangry: Or are you the master of those bots?

Only the bots and very few user's are having problems. So from my point of view, the ones complaining are probably one of those who sent the bots. If not, then there's many other alternatives that has been suggested.

And afaik it only affects NU. There's nothing worthy enough to be stolen from NUF..... @justabot already stole all the valuables.

Well, spam bots are more annoying than any other bots I've come across...which is not a lot.

Oh no, you turned it back on? I missed it dammit. I'm using opera mini. It came with my shitty button phone...which I unironically love very much.

And I understand that I'm highly suspicious right now, but just think of my pain. When I'm outside, not near my computer, and I know exactly when some translators post chapters of my favorite novels but can't read them right away. I can't focus on anything else when I know I could be reading another chapter of those novels.

But yea, I still come back home to read those chapters through my computer so at least it won't affect the page views you get from me. I don't thing there is a solution for this for opera mini, if there was one I'd have long since heard of it. (I've spent a few decent hours googling everything I could out of sheer paranoia.)

Edit: Anyway, does that mean you guys can disable cloudfare for the forum pages?

Not sure if this will fix it as I don't have opera mini but I found this:
