it is a wuxia and a lots of words. sadly not a popular genre. spcnet translation forum is more or less inactive. at this moment there are ONLY only 2 active wuxia translations to best of my knowledge. huang yi's two dragons of tang dynasty ( foxx ) and song of exile at volare. movie was not good and i am inclined to think its among tsui hark's low point. fundamentally its just not doable to turn a very a very big story in to a 100min movie. how ever these big wuxia ( and xianxia/xuanhuan ) novels are tailor made for tv series. he in fact was also producer of tv series " seven swordsman" (2005-2006 ), around 40 or so episodes , was shown in mainland china. i watched it via a set of DVDs from public library in san francisco. subtitled. you may still be able to find it around. worth it !
