The author created an account and spammed his own novel with fake 5 star reviews. He didn't even try to hide it. https://www.webnovel.com/book/13205080605053705 It is all alleged though
Just another normal(fake) day in Q with them basing in (in)fame I thought that everyone already know how rigged their system is?
I was looking for a novel title Aqua Elementalist or something amongst those lines. I see nothing wrong with that author that pretended his novel was a translation, since we have pseudonyms, faking sex, ghostwriters etc but this is just ridiculous
Wow, this one puts even The Shameless Advertiser to shame. That said, I wouldn't read it... not cuz of the fake reviews, but due to the fact that even the author (the alleged fake reviewer) can't find anything praiseworthy in his own work (to write about) and is forced to spam instead.
In all fairness, the ratings/comments system sucked ever since they made commenting/reviewing on a book a way to get exp/SS. It's rather annoying to scroll down to reviews expecting to see several fanboys, a couple of haters, and a meager amount of real reviews that help you decide if you want to read the story and instead you get 3 pages of "for the exp and ss".
And here I thought you'd have brought up something juicier, like how the (at the time) marquee Originals authors at Webnovel suddenly got their reviews cleared up of everything less than 4 stars when they came over here to white knight them during discussions of what's in their contract back when all that was leaked. The only thing remarkable about this one is the sheer laziness involved in only using a single account. From the outset of Inkstone's launch, in the first month, most of the self-promoters had upwards of 30 accounts to both spam reviews and Power Stones on their stuff. When some of us brought this to WN's attention it was made clear that they had zero interest in dealing with that kind of behavior, too. It's in their interest to keep around the hungry types, if not to sign on to their program then to pressure those they do want signing up. None of that's particularly notable anymore, though, given the popular works are all regularly spammed with obvious rating bots and point farmers now. The reviews system there is utterly useless as it is implemented and maintained, particularly with the system incentives for users to just keep on spamming.
