So I just started reading and I'm at ch 12. Is the first Crest called the glory Crest because the mc was super OP and probably a hero, and he had the first crest in last life.

 

Yeah, that's basically the feeling you get if you're not the MC, and you have the info MC does about history.

 

No, it’s the plot by demons to weaken humanity. The glory crest is only good for production.

ALL the other crests are combat crests, with 4th as most OP.

 

Each crest has a specialty and quirks within it.
The first crest starts stronger then the others, but gains less from training and has lower upper limits.
But is is much better at production and fine details.

Humanity has lost most of their knowledge and no longer properly training their magic so that no one knowingly grows beyond the initial limits. This results in the first crest being seen as the strongest because no one is growing to the point that they meet, let alone it gets overtaken (which apparently does not take very long, it only take shim a couple months to train the good brother to be stronger then the idiot one)

I think the crests are actually somewhat balanced if you think about it, 4th would appear stronger because the MC has it as well as massive knowledge and battle experience from his first life. Plus he started properly training his magic years before anyone else.

Each of the crests has strengths and weaknesses, but 4th is the ultimate crest for close combat. But the others each have an area they excel at.

 

According to the manga, the fourth crest has the high output AND rapid fire of both the second and third crests the only drawback is range. OP.

 

The range is a major draw back though. Just not against demons, or most 1 on 1 fights.

 

But there had to be a apocalyptic event to occur at some point right? The mc wiped out most of the demon and his world had other OP warriors and had highly advanced magic and technology. Demons by themselves couldn't have realistically regressed mankind this badly otherwise. Also, did the mc wipe out all the dangerous monsters as well before reincarnating? He says stuff like if a dragon shows up it'll destroy the world if there best fighters are at (Entrance test guy's) level. And trash mobs are considered calamities of their own.

Also, there is a taboo on any writings from before the disaster, for fear of bringing the destruction back down on them (this is possibly due to the demons influence), and the writing system they use has changed to become incompatible so they can not and would not even read the old texts.

I found it funny, since apparently the explosion was only possible due to someone cutting corners and skimping out on the safety features that would have prevented the explosion and chain reaction. (plus increasing the size of the reactor)

I think he even comments at one point he had actually written a book on that type of reactor, along with one on how to become immortal, for the one time he had been invited by a university to be a guest lecturer but it was implied that the material was too over anyone else's head for them to understand. He was also not invited back as a lecturer.
