well. . . i'm pretty sure what i picked up was a stray. . . and it was also a rainy day during that time. . .(no card board boxes) well it somehow grew attached to the house. . . well this and that. . . so i guess she's what you call a peasant type of cat. . .(not Persian)
Keep your cannibalistic tendencies to yourself, please... Also,I just noticed that you're self-deprecating yourself, considering you're a "cat"... Good question... picking up strays, even if they look really pitiful, is out of my comfort zone...
If it's an issue about loneliness, must you have a pet that you'd cuddle with? Or would just looking at them be fine? There's other options like fishes and hamsters etc. that needs lesser attention. Or...you know..stuffed toys. Huge ones. It may sound silly but there are people who get them because of this.
Look up the costs. Food, vet bills, day care (vacations), etc. Vet bills are close to human healthcare bills. Read blogs to see if there are unexpected ones. If you are renting, it could restrict your housing choices. If you are an early waker, kittens can be active during the night. These are all things to factor in.
To the level of physically interacting with the animal... Also, I'm not to lonely to the level of professional help... At least I don't have to go outside for it... Noted...
Cats are the best. Though be prepared to get scratched sometimes. Also, you should adopt a kitten, but better two. Otherwise it'll be lonely
What type of floors do you have? After having a cat, I would say that having lots of carpet is bad. - If you ever have a flea infestation, they will colonize all your carpets and be very difficult to eradicate. If you don't want to spread poison all over your house, you and your cat will have to endure flea bites for months while you vacuum heavily daily all the while giving your cat frequent baths. - If your cat decides it needs pee outside of its litter box, it may get it into its mind to keep doing it regularly at those spots. If you have hardwood floors, you could spot the puddles or dried salt stains and investigate why your cat is doing it (marking or stress) and try correcting its behavior. Carpet will just soak it up invisibly and then will constantly release its aromatics. - Carpet will also trap all the hair they constantly shed.
I'm sorry I can't really help you in that front, I've been living away from home for nearly 2 years and haven't seen her in a long time, and even when I do it's only for a few days since I can't stay home for long so I've forgotten the specifics. I'd say brushing honestly depends on your own choice how often you want to do it. Considering it's something you can easily do while on a couch watching TV. Bathing doesn't have to be too often either. Maybe weekly or bi-weekly? honestly it all depends on the cat in question. I've been away from my cat for wayy too long TT_TT
You might want to try watching Cat 101. It is a TV shows that explain alot of things about cat breeds. from the medical isues, to their character.
Nope, one is enough for me... Don't worry, I don't use carpets... They're pretty bothersome to clean... Is the cat you're referring to, the one on your signature ... Noted...
Biological creatures have biological needs and urges. Asks yourself first this. 1. Are you prepared to shoulder it's maintenance and basic needs costs ? 2. Are you prepared to have them get into your current daily activities and patterns ? 3. Are you mentally prepared to accept their bad quality and at time you may lost them (dead/missing/cheating) ?
If you want a cat for company I suggest you to adopt from a shelter or find a stray~ feed them once, they will stay~ and you don't even need to 'take care' of them since they got more 'experience' compared to fully sheltered breeds... just watch for fleas -.- and give them shots~ plus they are smarter too, you can teach em stuff easier. but if you want a pure breed, just a reminder that the more 'exotic' they appear, it's because of inbreeding and they are prone to have genetic disorders and have weaker resitances thus harder to care for...
Get a stray cat from your locality, don't go for breeds. Local strays can live a very comfortable life in the locality you live in as they are used to the local environment. They are usually rather low maintenance and they will love you as much as you love them, perhaps even more. Of course, pets are the same as family and once you make family you can't run away from the added responsibility. And animals who can not express their thoughts and pain through language require a lot of attention and care. So get a cat only if you think you are ready to shoulder that extra responsibility.
