I stopped around the end of volume 3 during the weird tournament thing. A new bad guy showed up and I just found myself not really give a shit and speed reading. It was so boring I couldn't continue it. I checked out the illustrations for volume 5 and it looks pretty cool So my question is: does it get better? should I keep reading? I've read novel before were they get pretty bad for a bit then pick up again later.
Depends on your preference.. I don't know how it would be in volume 4 onwards, but I read it just for it sheer stupidity..
It's the same. Which is the reason why I started reading it in the first place so take my observation with a grain of salt
isnt it the novel where the MC(?) is determined to be a side chara to a MC who turned out to be cross dressing?
What kind of "better" are you looking for? I like it as it is, since the light novel has been clear on what kind of story it is. A strong protagonist acting like a weak side character towards his main character who he views as the protagonist of his story. There are slight subversion of tropes and one liners referencing certain works. Overall, it's a good read if you're looking for standard JP school life with supernatural elements and proper pacing.
I don't know, not boring I guess? Like are the new characters good? Are the scenarios the MC finds himself in more interesting. Does it still use the same joke of: MC: I want to be a side character! MC: whoops! something happened that makes me the main character! And so on and so forth
There are new characters and interesting developments, but the main theme will always be him wanting to be a supporting character, even when the situation forces him to be in the spotlight! Hell, even one of the enemies directly tell him that it's useless trying to hide from his true role. Don't expect a very serious story here or one with heavy consequences.
I dropped it for the same reason. The premise made me try to read it, but I found the characters plain-boring and the plot was completely lineal with each arc having a plot twist that just felt really forced.
