My elementary school (Cecilía) was an all girls school some centuries ago, and i was always of the opinion that it's not a really good idea... Whats your opinion?
I cant say that they are bad... some of the worlds best prep schools are single sex (mostly boys). I also went to a single sex prep school and i didn't miss out on much. Students are more focused/ goal oriented. The teachers are hell of a lot stricter.BTW there are still colleges so just bear with it for a few years.
They have their unique qualities. If it doesn't suit someone, they don't have to attend. I've had friends that benefited greatly from going to single sex schools.
Hmm a school without girls would suck, But it might be easier for girls to study without annoying, loud males..
I think the ones who started single sex schools are catholics... It was prob due to keep the pastors away from girls and vice versa.... We all know how well that went... Lol
Personally I think they are bad in most cases because the people who go through them have no experience with the opposite sex and can wind up socially backwards in some ways which takes quite a bit of time to recover from. Honestly I think the better option would be to have mixed-sex schools open till say roughly seventh grade and then split the genders up from 8th grade to the 12th Plus it's tailor-made for the childhood friend trope
I also feel like it hurts the students more in long terms. It's like this theory where kids, who grow up without a father are less socially active..
Not all, but some in the school will have problems interacting and knowing the boundaries with the opposite gender.
It's got its advantages and disadvantages for both sexes. Since it works for some people I think there's nothing wrong with it. You could always choose whether to go to a mixed gender school or not.
I dont think so... Yes a small percentage of the alum will be a bit awkward initially but they will gradually grow out of it. I went to an all boys schools and i turned out fine (more or less).
