Try reading Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang. It's a very sweet fantasy love story. I'm not sure if the lead will be exactly what you're looking for because she has a rather strange fantasy origin, but she is definitely capable and dense in her own way. It's also a completed story which is nice.
I already read it, it's good . I had no problem with fantasy origin. For future reference, maybe my reading list would help.

Manga recommendation is welcomed I've read Warau Kanoko-sama, Koi Dano Ai Dano, Last Game, Horimiya, and Isshuukan Friends. I used to be an avid reader of manga until a year ago, so I'm familiar with some title. I have already read most title that has been translated one year ago, but new title is very welcomed.
It's not exactly you are looking for but if you haven't already read it I suggest Re:Life. It's a webcomic/manhua/manwha thingy. It fails most of your criteria for this thread but it's incredibly sweet at moments.
Hmm. Not sure whether it suits your taste entirely, but try Wipe Clean After Eating and Black Belly Boss Don't Run. They're the same type of story as Come and Eat Shan Shan! and Union Of Enemies. Also, Really Really Miss You might suit as well. Though in that one, she's not really dense. The dynamics are more like A Slight Smile is Very Charming. Mo Bao Fei Bao tends to write fairly intelligent protagonists.
I just realized that I read the wrong novel. The one with despicable character is Underdog Versus Boss. I was wondering why the summary and story didn't match at all...
