It does taste like a certain sausage brand but that would depend on which sausage brand. It doesn't really smell like it tho and as a child I was never really picky with my food cuz I was raised not to be picky. So whenever it was made for breakfast, I'd just eat it
I eat spam all the time. You can add it to soups (buddae jjiggae, or bean soup) or you can cut it in thin slices and sear them on the pan. You don't need oil for it! If you make it really thin, it becomes really nice and crispy. Eating it with rice is good~ I don't have much aversion to it since I ate it since I was young. I don't like other brands of luncheon meat though. You had a spam musubi yet? That stuff it da bomb. Honestly, just give it a shot, it's really not that bad imho. Maybe someone should give you that without telling you what it is. So you know, you won't be biased when you taste it!
I will now critically eye all meat products given to me by those around me in fear. Super picky eater~
Yes spam tends to smell strongly when raw but when cooked it tends to not smell as much. It's pretty salty and unless fried then directly consumed, it doesn't have much depth in flavor when mixed with other foods like say fried rice or in an omelet. Worst case scenario its bad for your health like any other canned food or you can't eat it because of religious reasons (pork).
pretty good replacement for breakfast sausage/bacon. It's made from pork shoulder and parts of ham, and thinly sliced and pan fried is how we usually have it. The smell isn't the greatest since it is from the dark meat, but is very flavorful because of it. As for taste, hmm hard to say but a mix between bacon and a hotdog (since the meat is put together from what was considered scraps). Just think of it as sausage just cubed-ham form
shit, i live in Arizona bro....you can buy it at a good groccery store in these parts, no lie. Hell, you can buy it off Amazon too! I did that once, though it was only half as good as it is fresh
It's really amazing with rice. My family had these several times during meals, and after frying with egg coating, they were quite tasty. Also, you could try making a short of a fist sized sushi with a large slice, and the saltiness from the raw spam compliments the sweetness of the rice and seaweed.
All the negative comments make me feel weird for liking spam... As a kid, we had it for breakfast with eggs. Or sometimes chopped up into, like, macaroni soup and stuff.
Heres some pictures to show you how they look in food They tend to be served with eggs as it alleviates the salty flavor spam has to have as a preservable food.
Exactly how I feel... I thought everyone loved spam! I mean, it ain't the healthiest food option around, but it sure is tasty!
Spam... If you've lived in Hawaii you know what it is and most likely have eaten in since its found in a lot of recipes there... Fried rice, Spam Musubi, Spam sandwich, Spam in soups, Spam on rice, Spam eggs and rice... It doesn't spoil easily... I am pretty sure Hormel makes a lot of its cash sales of spam from Hawaii and countries that are around the equator. Really, it all just depends how its prepared to appeal to a person's palette... But, ya my personal favorite is spam musubi... Best when the spam is sandwiched between the rice(not the common on top of of the rice) allowing the salt and oils from the spam slice to spread into the rice on both sides of the spam slice... If you eat spam musubi the usual way, you do get that really strong hit of the salt flavor with the rice being on just one side of it... Most don't do the rice on both sides because it really is a hassle to do, but it does make a noticeable difference...
Who eats canned meat nowadays. You do know how unhealthy it is. If you want to eat, just grab your gun and shoot the nearest whatever animals you want to eat.
