Maybe Claude slept with his (ex)fiancee, before she cheated on him with his crappy bro. You did see the story hinted that after he executed his brother (for the supposed devil possession, which is b.s. in my opinion) he became hedonistic, sleeping with women left and right and center. That seems to me that Claude might have deeper feelings to his crappy ex-fiance than the a simple 'arrange marriage,' and only when he met Diana did he fell in love again. As for Claude's unfair treatment to the MC, the story did emphasized that he was ruthless, and killed his own family, so in his eyes the Jenny who captivated him with her innocence and bubbly personality (although paternity is questionable, what if he really did loved his ex-fiance before?) versus our gloomy MC who is practically a stranger to him. And the main reason why Diana died. Did you remember the flashback argument of Claude and Diana? I think that was the time Clause was angry at her for wanting to keep the MC even if it'll cost her life. So in the end, favoritism is the deadliest form of familial love.

I think so too. In chapter 34 he looks in pain while holding his stomach. Claude's brother who has died also has a wound in his stomach. And in the latest chapter, he was so kind to Jenny. Then, maybe...?

Spoiler I don't remember that part but I do know Some one from the black tower casted black magic on him (it really his brother)to forget the MC .He ends up exiling her and threatens to kill her .So the MC goes on the run.He thinks he hates her but gets very sick when she runs away. He thinks he want to exile her but treasures her child drawings .He is the ultimate tsundere .
Spoiler She wasn't poisoned .In fact it was a backlash from her magic she inherited from her dad,That black dog she gets later is made from her magic too .She unconsciously made it as her overflowing mana was killing her .In the original novel I think the dog was supposed to be eaten by Lucas but our MC save it .
I think the main reason he neglected her was because he asked Diana not to have the baby that was obviously killing her .he begged her to choose me over the baby .She refused so he told her even if you have it I wont love it or care for it .My revenge will to be forget about you .I think Diana didn't know how serious he was when he made that vow. He had a mental breakdown and hated MC as the mother killer so he allowed her to be executed when he knew that she was probably innocent .He knew jenny was a fake after all . It was just that jenny looked like her gold digger mom so it was easier to treat her warmly since he had no feelings towards her then the original MC .

Anyway in her travels as a fugitive when she enters a magic store to find out about memories spell the shopkeeper tells her that belong to black magic which always required a price He also noticed a strong curse on the MC body that was there for a long time...so our MC wonders what price did the female lead pay to be created and who pay it ? Was there truly a happy ending for Jenny in the first life? Im thinking the MC original host was cursed as a baby that why her first life was so bad MOM dying ,Dad being her killer ,servants stealing and abusing her no friends ...etc also the sister made from black magic so the sister shouldn't have a happy life but somehow did.....so hmmmm ....
