Definitely the best worldbuilding I've read in a long time. Props for the author. Cried reading about a soldier burning his house down.

 

I'm pretty sure that (as well as all the other pre-content content) are made up by the translator and/or editor. They're not part of the raws.

I thought they were actual quotes either from the chapter or from past/future chapters, but after reading them for a while, I realised that they weren't, lol. They're likely something the translator/editor came up with given the theme of the chapter, so props to them.

 

I have binged the novel up to chapter 30 and so far, his character is too much of a pushover. Will I be expecting people to be pushing him around to their whims and he would just take it with smiles and shit? Cause that would be very annoying. Though his character is somewhat established like that, I do hope it changes a bit that doesn't get pushed to whatever schemes his "friends" and "acquaintances" has for him.

 

The story is mainly about his territory building and the later arcs don't have him doing that much as an individual but rather as a leader.
If you're only up to chapter 30 then I think you're still reading the prologue (before he returns to claim his territory). The writing style is still the same but the story has changed its focus a lot.

Lorist remains a pushover in Morante, however he gets slightly better when he moves back home. However, Lorist does make some bad decisions and is a bit too generous when he does become lord of his barony. At one point in time, he gave money and goods to his potential enemy. He also is a bit too generous to his allies and a gigantic asshole that I'll call 2nd H for now.

 

Based on chapter 431's quote, I guess Lorist is only giving Auguslo 1 viable method to conquer the Mountain Pass that provides Lorist with the most benefits and 2 seemingly viable methods that Auguslo would never agree to.

 

Yes he baits him with the first two so that he's more willing to agree with the third. Funny how his highness is always so suspicious yet can never think of any better plan.

I'm sure that the fans of the novel really appreciate the extra effort.

The novel already has great world building so I personally find that the quotes and excerpts help immerse myself even further into the novel. They really make me feel something more than if I just read the chapters by themselves. Some of them even invoke such a strong emotional response I cried reading one of them. Really thanks for going that extra mile.
