I'd rather like an novel with a protag that is still aspiring to be the best after the novel actually ends. I mean it'll give that left unfinished but satisfying feel. BUT can't picture IET actually doing that.
I also like it, but it is often poorly done and it finish with you being just frustrated, not satisfied at all. So I would rather have them to wrap up the story correctly and not try to do an half-assed open ending. Not in the same style, but The Road by Cormac McCarthy does it extremely well
Nah i sayed Shi* ending cause it was a bit too fast so it ended up from a great story to avrage (Dont mind my bad eng(spelling i guess)

Saying it is shit isn't. Spoiler But revealing that he doesn't become the most powerful being is. Especially since most Xianxia end up that way, anything else is thus abnormal and knowing this can lead to some theories of the ending to be rendered incorrect thus spoiling it.

The entire last Volume of ST was just Ugh. The ending was even worse IMO. I'd take the end to CD over ST any day. Though you are right. ST was slightly more open ended if only for the reason that it was written first.
I'm curious whether after this long treasure hunt Ji Ning is going to find some supreme Daomerge treasure, or just gamble on his talent. I'd hate for Ninedust to die, and if they don't find some treasure he probably will. You'd think with how insignificant Daolords are to Autarchs, they'd have casually made some Daomerge erasing treasure or something. They definitely should be even better at Numerancy than Emperor Waveshift.
The stone hellephant arc? if thats what your talking about from what the Autarchs golem(or whatever) said, Daomerge is just as hard as becoming an Autarch but the Daomerge is dangerous making it harder. The treasure they get just has them going on another treasure hunt so maybe then they will get something? Im sure there may be an autarch that can help with daomerge such as an autarch who is better at (whatever dao bandlands and that famous emperor have) but to find one is hard enough let alone getting them to help out, as for erasing daomerge I doubt it, probs just something similar to getting to experience it or make it easier or what not
I mean this treasure hunt, not the stone hellephant. That arc finished. THough tbh it's jsut one big treasure hunt in the end. I don't know why you would think the Daomerge is as difficult as becoming an Autarch; Eternal Emperors can take as long as they want to become Autarchs, and Waveshift can interfere in the Daomerge when he's not even a Hegemon. Plus, the Sithe had so many Daolords yet not one Autarch. Anyway, about the Autarch thing, all Autarchs mastered all Daos through their own Daos. Their main one is incredibly strong, but all other Daos easily reach the Hegemon level as we saw. Waveshift is not a Hegemon, yet he's already able to mess with the Daomerge. Autarchs should be able to do much, much more.
