it must be my bad luck but every novel i like on royalroad happens to be dropped or on a very long hiatus .. i cant help but think of royalroad as a trashcan of dropped series .. sorry for being negative .
I know what you mean RRL=site where ppl drop stuff or "rewrite" way too often My reading list on RRL has about 20-30 dropped novels in it that I have yet to purge
I think the main reason why series are dropped in royal road is because of the restrictions they put on writers to receive donations (which is you must have 50,000 words for the first 10 chapters). As a writer myself, it's the support that is shown by readers that really motivate us to continue writing them and that was the main reason I came back, as I had people continuously emailing me when the next chapter releases were. It warms your heart to be appreciated like that. I think if readers actively supported the novels they like, then I doubt that novel will be dropped unless an emergency in real life occurred. just my thoughts
Well to increase donation u need popularity and that doesn't happen overnight right? .. in fact i think people lose interest way faster when a serie goes on hiatus or dropped even if the story is awesome.. 1 little hiatus and u lose the wave. then less donations = no motivation = serie dropped for good. in other words : u cant give up too early ( specially after 10 chapters )
Agreed! I have promised myself that I will not drop this novel even if I get no donations. I realised how much fun it really is to create an entire fictional world with just your thoughts and words, and sharing that world with other people. The characters you create and develop, soon start forming into real people with personalities and their own little quirks. I have the story planned for 3 books and the general end, so its safe to say that I will be here for quite a while lol
