Suggestion: Spy gets voted out = gets 1 chance to guess oath word Spy outs themselves before everyone gives their word = gets 2 chances to guess oath word Spy gives their word before half of the players give their word = gets additional chance to guess oath word via "placeholder" guess (given to the host at the same time they give their word) in case they get voted out. If spy does not get voted out but instead outs themselves, placeholder will not matter and spy will still only have 2 chances. For point #2, the spy cannot out themselves after everyone gives their word. With this set-up, the spy has an incentive to give their word early on and cannot out themselves get more chances if they are likely to be voted out.
Probably it’s pretty low maintenance so I could probably balance it with the current mafia game I’m in
