Depends on what he's going for really. Personally, I think he should plan around what he wants in the long run. There are tons of methods to save her after all. No need to pick the first one he thinks of or the one that uses the least points or whatever if there's a method that plays into his long term goals. But I'm not super attached to any particular rescue plan or point distribution.

I'm guessing he gave her maxed stealth and the keys before distracting the guards so they wouldn't notice the carriage door opening. I have to wonder why the driver didn't notice the sudden change in the carriage's weight though.

 

Good springs? Even in the American Wild West, stagecoaches has springs...steel leaf springs to smooth the ride.

Also most rural European roads had cobblestones, and if the coach is big enough, the change in weight might not be that noticeable.

 

I mainly bring it up because the driver noticed the difference that the MC riding on the carriage created. Since he noticed that, it seems odd that he didn't notice when both the MC and the prisoner stopped riding on the carriage.

East may end up dead.

She’s been imprisoned all her life, destined to become a tool of war. Somebody rescues her, tells her he’s not going to kill anyone, and does it. He’s decent looking, and kind to her. She was prepared to die from the beginning. Now, she’s got a shot at living...humans are complex. She may have become infatuated, or just cold bloodedly rational...use her body to give him an incentive to take care of her.

We shall see how the author treats this.
