    Check out this awesome 16th century Italian shield. It has a gauntlet, serrated blades, spike, retractable blade, and lantern.

    most likely this is a shield used on horseback or for cavalry. Imagine a cavalry regiment equipped with lances and this shield. Anyone standing before them would die.

    but seriously dude, this shield is overkill.

    Yeah I agree that it is overdone, but this was made during the start of the renaissance when they wanted to explore new ideas.

    What happens when you're on horseback and you need to scratch your nose then?
