Question This... this... what?? Help please [JP]

I'm not sure I actually translated this properly. Can someone go over and help me fill in what I missed. I also don't really understand the last line. Please and thank you~

Context:
A pair of magicians, boy and girl, are out hunting monsters. The girl has trouble so the boy offers to examine her for research purposes and she gets worried about the nuance of what he means. He, a genius magician, instead thinks she is underestimating him so he tries to reassure her by gesturing to his weapon and saying he made it.
Also, the boy’s purpose for being there is to act as her escort/guard so she can practice fighting the monsters.

明らかにギクッと擬音が聞こえた気がした。
　ようは反応が示している、自分で墓穴を掘ったということだ。穿ち過ぎではなく、予想通りの反応だった。

　アリスはそんなつもりはないはずだったのだが、テスフィアとの会話が一瞬過ったのだ。
　大した研究をしていないなどと彼女が言ったばかりに再起された反応である。

　……一応の了承は得た。
　その後、二人は時間ぎりぎりまで魔物の討伐に精を出すのだった。アルスが付き合わされただけなのは知っての通りだ。

　

Arus feels as though he’s clearly hearing a creaking sound. Alice’s delayed reaction is the proof that she dug her own grave. He isn’t reading too much into it, it was the expected response.

Such wasn’t Alice’s intention. Instead, a conversation she had with Tesfia flashed across her mind, “We don’t put much emphasis on research.” What happened can be called a reaction to her recollection[1].

…Looks like I gained her trust for now.
Afterwards, the two of them worked hard to subjugate mamono until the last moment. Only Arus understands just how far he matches with her level of strength.

Such wasn’t Alice’s intention. But a conversation she had with Tesfia flashed across her mind, She just said to her “We don’t research to much into it.” on her recollection[1].

*i assume tesfia is a girl, and the one who said "大した研究をしていない" is alice

　その後、二人は時間ぎりぎりまで魔物の討伐に精を出すのだった。アルスが付き合わされただけなのは知っての通りだ。

明らかにギクッと擬音が聞こえた気がした。>>> ギクッ is more like a snap sound? I understood as something that startled them once and not a recurring sound.

　アリスはそんなつもりはないはずだったのだが、テスフィアとの会話が一瞬過ったのだ。
　大した研究をしていないなどと彼女が言ったばかりに再起された反応である。>>> in this sequence, it's a bit unclear for me if the one who talked to Tesfia was Alice or Arus. [大した研究をしていない] >>> the research wasn't noteworthy/ it didn't have remarkable results? For me, など implies that they didn't have enough information.
