Hi everyone! EndlessFantasy Translations is translating Qiu Mo aka Pursuit of the Truth. This title was decided on by Er Gen himself. We originally kept the title Beseech the Devil but he said that the word Devil in English doesn't accurately convey the Chinese 'Mo'. While many of you may have already read PiggyBottle's translations of the first 120 chapters, we would like to ask you to give mogumoguchan's version a try. Her chapters contain several differences including with PiggyBottle's version. This includes changes in terms, etc. These changes were done after going through multiple discussions with Er Gen himself to ensure that the words accurately portray what he wishes to convey. As for the picture cover, a new one has already been designed and uploaded but the site is not updating correctly. Hopefully, the change will occur as soon as possible. Thanks everyone!
When i hear the title " pursuit of the truth " it gives me a magic vibe like WMW and other magic focus novel .
yeah the parts I read were different but same quality, I was confused, cause I thought they just bought the chapters from piggy, but they are a bit different. And the translator seems endless translation, their translation of epoch of twilight isn't that bad
that's good okay guys, the translator himself/herself have stated that IT'S ERGEN HIMSELF that want it to be called that way
Well that's good then but the author is a bit nip picking isn't it @@. Well they would probably change name regardless though.
Awhile back, @PiggyBottle translated a description of the title's meaning that Er Gen had put up. https://piggybottle.wordpress.com/beseech-the-devil/beseech-the-devil-sybolism/ Does he know that 'Truth' doesn't even remotely come close to what he said he was trying to convey? If he thinks that 'Devil' doesn't quite cover it, I get it, but... 'Truth'? Really? That's so far out of left field it isn't funny. It's completely random.
My best guess is that Er Gen has no idea what the words mean. That sounds impossible, but at this point the title has been changed so completely that it's just not the same title any more. If this is what he wants, then he has given the novel a completely new title with a completely different meaning. It no longer has any relation to the original chinese.
I can't read chinese so i can't say much about this. but in the prologue, ergen(?) explained why it's "pursuit"
Yeah, I get the 'pursuit' part. According to @PiggyBottle way back when, 'pursuit' was what Er Gen intended to begin with. The word used could easily mean 'beseech' or 'pursue,' and Er Gen meant the latter. It was just an either/or choice between the two and whoever came up with the original title guessed wrong, huh? But the second word in the title.. '魔' .. as I said in the LCD thread: unless my dictionary is totally wrong, that just isn't even a possible translation. It's not even related. .. And if you search, you'll see that same character used in titles like.. Demon's Diary Maken no Daydreamer ~Demon Fist Daydreamer~ The Simple Life of Killing Demons Demon Hunting Diary It's also the same 'Mo' from World of Cultivation. How this became 'Truth' is beyond me. It's just not even the same word anymore.
@Zenobys between chapter 39 and 40 of your version there's a chapter missing, you guys should rectify this Chapter 38 – I want to become strong! Chapter 39 – Hostility Chapter 40 – Si Kong
Oh, wait. Actually. I didn't see that prologue. It's.. the same thing as this... Y'know.. umm.. broadly speaking. "The word "Pursuit", has two meanings: one is to plead and the other to implore." Help, I'm dying.
I do not get it how is beseech the devil was the translators first title but now its pursuit of the truth. Who's the devil and where he come from that the translator thought that was the title? is it like making a deal with the devil type of thing going on here or the translator just messed it up at first. Edit: I know the original chinese author wanted it changed to pursuit of the truth but I am confused on to how the translators made a mistake in the first place.
