    Ahh...I thought you meant novel.

    Ok, Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi no Kike! - school life, but more to fluff and excessive bromance with girlish humor. Not so bad for a starter.

    Next, Genwaku no Kodou - initial chapters are still vaguely slashy, later on it'll be yaoi, but the manga focuses more on mythology, supernatural and fantasy.

    Go to Mangago and read some popular shounen-ai first before reading yaoi. It would give you some insight to this wonderland. May you become devouted fudanshi, my son.

    Gehh, my post got cut off.

    This 19 Days are usually enjoyed by Fujoshi. It has schoold life and comedy. The comedy is not those sweet, fluffy ones that girl generally prefer but those smacking, dirty ones that you won't mind sharing with a boy. If your girl is a dedicated fujoshi, she would be familiar with this title.

    For a beginner, this should be good for you.

    If you're okay with manga, I'd suggest:

    Shirogane no Ou and/or its sequel Shirogane no Ou: Fenrir Craft

    It's slashy fantasy that could also be taken as strong bromance.

    Edit: Forgot to add. They're also about only 1-3 volumes long.

    I don't have my laptop right now, so I can't recommend some manga because I don't remember the title orz
    There's one manga, Moon Trick, the romance only visual to those who reads bunch of sho-ai and yaoi manga cough...
