Hi! I'm in need of some angsty novels.
I've looked countless times in the tragedy tag, but I've read already a lot of them and I don't know what to read anymore.
    If you could recommend me:
    - angst for FL
    - BG (no BL or GL please)
    - HE (if possible)
    - no QT please...
    - no japanese novels please

    I've read novels like
Love in another life my gentle tyrant
    Wife can't escape
    Golden age of phoenix
A mistaken marriage match, mysteries in the imperial harem
    (I don't remember others rn)

    Thank you!

In many ways this is the most tragic novel I've ever read, and boy it sure doesn't have a happy ending. The way the multiple layers of betrayal are built upon each other and the amount of emotional power they generate is palpable. It's only made all the better because the characters are so varied and interesting. The reader gets invested into them and how they interact with each other only to see it all crumble to ash. Even better, the tragedy isn't just limited to the protagonist; instead it's applied to all the major characters in the story and even what would seem like the obvious villains are much more nuanced and easy to empathize with.

    Held in the Lonely Castle
Sad ending. I think a drama was actually based on this one.
The Dreamer in the Spring Boudoir
An ambiguously happy ending depending on how you take it. This is less about misunderstandings tragedy and more about the characters doing realistic but cruel things to survive. It follows the idea that if you want to make it out you have to cut off parts of yourself sometimes.
