Discussion Tragedy: when the author erases your favourite novel's RAWS

It was not the first time and probably it won't be the last time it happends to me.

I was reading a novel from Y.A., the same author from "Hachinan", it was called "Yuusha no katsuyaku wa korekara da!". It was a little bit weird novel but I liked it a lot. The WN had a strange mix between a Shonen and a seinen and It was basically a inverted version of "Gate", but with Magic>Science instead.

I was reading untill past May when it fall on a hiatus and.... It got published


....and 3 months after that hiatus it got deleted from Syosetu

You could say.... ¡¡Hey, you can buy it!!

Yes and not, I can buy the novel, but it won't be the same novel. I've read some chapters and it was changed with more softy shonen content, more ecchi and less seinen.

Originaly it was a novel with a huge criticism over japanese society and politics, it speaked a lot about the problems of rural zones, the corruption and all the problems of japanese society (and also countries close to japan). The MC even runaway from Japan, something pretty uncommon.

Did it happened to you too with another novel?
Do you have the same "idiot face" as me when it happends?

I think the way back machine has backups of most of the syosetsu content, you might be able to find the pages on there.

 

Ohhh, interesting points. You can still wish the author good luck, but it DOES suck how web novels like Overlord lose some of their really juicy moments once they're published. ...Just because it can be questionable to ethics and morality.

Couldn't read that series anymore once Evil Eye died I preferred the web novel variant where she remains alive.

The bigger problems is that when they even make sure to remove all copies from wayback or other 'archive' sites.

 

This is why. When you learn that wn is getting a ln you go and save all chapters on your pc

 

This is just me, I just copy the raws onto Word and save them, for future reference.

And I usually check syosetsu incase there's a revised version, then I save that and title it revised with the date.

That way I can stay up to date on my chapters, in case internet goes down, lost connection, or the chapters disappear altogether.

Orz for you then, I never faced such issue though, more on how the translators decided to rage quit due to issues mostly from bad free readers, occasionally I faced issues like skipped raw chapters from all the pirated sites like Piaotian.

Also, it sucks to have your fav warped to feed the masses, but it is the money the author cares about, unless he wants to die "accidentally" like the rest of the truth speakers.

In the webnovel or the light novel? In the light novel she is very much still alive but in the webnovel, I've never read it so I dont know.

 

seen a few that've been pulled because the author couldn't take criticism. some people are amazingly thin skinned, considering the sorts of things they write.

Agreed, though I save everything as mht's - (443 novels with +60k chapters - wow, I need to get a new hobby). Still, mozilla is being a whole bag of dicks about killing off the useful bits of firefox, so I don't know how much longer I can use that format.
