Question Translation quality of Martial Arts Master

So, I was reading Martial Arts Master, and everything was great until I got to chapter 62 and it started reading almost like MTL. So I was just wondering, does the translation quality ever recover, or do I need to drop this otherwise excellent series?

 

Never had that problem.. I binge it from chapter 1 to 120 easily no problem

 

Should get better later on. Sorry I am not a hundred sure because I am not a native so I don't really notice the gramma.

 

I'm not a native too, but I think that translation is very good. I understand everything clearly. It is much, much better than mtl!

 

Is there a different translator besides QI or something? Because the quality difference is pretty hard to miss if you compare the battle in 62 to any of the preceding battles.

 

I've been reading on QI and there seem to be different sections from translation quality, probably up to where it was translated pre-Qidian site and after. It seems like after it jumped to MTL with a creative editor and in some chapters where they rush it's painfully easy to tell but then later on seems to improve again for a while. Consistency is hard to find though, with terms being misused or mixed up, even names. One guy gets killed, then the other gets questioned or whatever but they use the same name for the entire segment.

It's never quite as bad as pure MTL but as i was reading i was considering pointing mistakes out but then gave up after the enormous amount i found because it would've taken effort on my part (not to mention the lack of response from translators).

Well, as long as it's only pockets of terrible translation I'll try to power through it. The series is too good to abandon if I don't have to.

Well, we're not reading the same series but i do see improvement in Swallowed Star, with only a few issues where you're like ugh that stays annoying. The worst being the lack of vocabulary, seeing 'intrepid' being used 3 or 4 times in a paragraph or everyone calling each other a 'punk' instead of something that'd be more fitting for the scenario, like kid, boy, bastard.
Or third brother being twisted into 'Thirdie' because they probably said little three or something. (makes me think of Turdy every time).

 

Heck, i was already confused in chapter 1, with the grammar and so many english terms that i dont find in daily use...

 

I honestly dropped Swallowed Star long before QI. I just couldn't stand IET's incredibly poor understanding of science, or the excessive similarities between it and the other series I'd read by him.

 

It doesn't get mentioned a lot but there's quite a bit of nationalism in there too, with China being seen as superior, with them being at the peak of meditation and mental training along with india. Which is funny, after he keeps expanding his universe trillions of times and supposedly they still have that superiority on a stellar level and you're like wtf Chinese so OP.
You can really tell that at certain points he just lets go of rationality and just throws things in there, copy MW, copy Renegade Immortal a bit there. It's like he makes a decent story , but each 100-150 chapters it'll no longer fit in that box he created and he forcibly has to expand it so breaks it away and you're like uuuuh.

At some point while reading it, i was imagining DBZ with space men in black suits coming to fight MC in x years so you could have a power-up time-skip or whatever. (the guy was even bald like Nappa...)

 

Yeah, it's definitely not his best work.

MTL is worse that what you think

 

There are a few chapters that are horribly translated (maybe half a dozen ATM?) They randomly pop here and there, and its not just one phrase or paragraph, its the whole chapter that needs to be fully edited. It's been stated several times in the comments but I have no idea if they bothered correcting it. Since the translator and the editor are the same person my guess is s/he was late to release the chapter and just left it like that.
