In the novel the protagonist is supposed to be the smartest and the most intelligent person in the world. The author even compared it to a super computer. But, unfortunately the limits of the protagonists intelligence is the author himself. This protagonist limited by the stupidity of the author does some of the most painfully obvious stupidest thing possible. The following is from the chapters I've read through mtl, hence the spoiler tag. I'll give you an example. The MC has a OP girl who can manipulate people's mind and make them do or say anything. Actually, he did this one time too a character named Ling Han and Yu Shante. But in a scene when he had the need to get some information out of an enemy, he chose to torture the man instead of using the OP girl standing right beside him. This results him getting nothing and one of the enemies even managed to escape which resulted in more troubles. This is stupid right? (rant end)
Stupidity is subjective. A character's stupidity reflects that he is not perfect nor an omniscient entity unlike you, as a reader. Even if he did, it is his decision to make and the consequences he has to bear. If he wants to torture the guy, for whatever reason, that's his problem If reaps trouble, that's his fault. If he wants to use the girl, that's his choice. if the author wants his character to be stupid, he's welcome to do that. the character is his creation, not yours. If the readers hate, they are welcome to do so. You're the reader, not the character. Unless you want to transmigrated into the novel and do what you want.
