depending on the game you might get rare gear that makes the start a bit easier, just to get a feel for the game or just get a refresh on gameplay (games like Civilization and Command and Conquer where prime for this last one, especially if they made big changes between games in the series run) and at last would be to make a run through it after the game sat in your collection for long enough you need a bit of practice ...
i often started a game in its second hardest difficulty just to preserve a second playthrough (should the game be enjoyable enough to warrant it), and to make sure i can achieve that 100% collected stuff/mission (or as close to it as possible), so i do very much appreciate a well-constructed tutorial that can avoid me fumbling around like an idiot and missing stuff that's otherwise obvious. i prefer to get into my game reasonably prepared and practiced.
Depends actually, Jrpgs for example tend to have the same formula, especially if you play a series. At the same time you could experience a lot of frustration in games like Sekiro/ Crusader Kings III (in that case I speak as someone who stupidly skipped the tutorial...) if you don‘t bother to read some data. Although, most of times i actually wish i could skip the shit that I‘m forced to go through.
