I think he cried a lot because of Maxi.. 1) When Maxi was badly injured n unconscious in war 1 2) When Maxi stubbornly decided to leave him to go to Nornui, he locked himself in another room (maxi found him there with glass/bottle of wine on the floor), drank too much of alcohol, smashed things n cried silently. 3) The moment Maxi boarded the ship to Nornui, he tried to catch Maxi but too late, cried at the port and tried to jump into the sea 4) Weeks since Maxi left to Nornui, he said he can't even open his eyes - maybe due to a lot of crying and he fall into depression 5) At Osiria canal, when he woke up and found Maxi is not there in their room, ran like madman to find her and finally found out she didn't leave. Maxi wiped his tears then only he realized he was actually crying.

He can do a good cosplay, but Riftan's features are supposed to look more like his father's, a noble-born knight of Croix... which would be more European than Asian, I guess? Actually there may be no Asian-appearing people in UOT at all, which means any live action adaptation will be extremely controversial between the people who want casting to match the book description and those who want to match the author's/initial fan group's ethnicity. Um... let's just hope for an anime. Less headaches that way.
yes. anime version will be better. No actor has yet been match Riftan's natural good looks (IMO). if only riftan could get out of his 2-dimensional form, into the real world, hahaha.
I started reading this novel about a month ago and have become obsessed with it ever since. Reading posts in this forum becomes my routine before bed now. Thank you all, beautiful people. Just want to share this song I listen recently with you: I think “all I want” by Kodaline is a perfect song to describe Riftan’s thoughts when Maxi was away. It’s such a sad yet beautiful song. More than happy to see that his longing ends well and their separations make them stronger together. Cannot post the song YouTube link for being a new one to this website.
