The ladies see Balto soldiers and they just wonder about how very hulking and crass and intimidating they are, comparing them to barbarians. They talk and speculate about their history. Maxi, escorted by Ulyseon, has a run-in with Richt again, who hurts her arm in a strong grasp. Sejour (Sejuleu) Aren manages to diffuse the situation, sayin "Do not tarnish your father's name" to Richt. Uly tells Riftan about it, and Riftan goes to Richt to warn him forcefully. They agree to settle it after the battle. As Maxi goes to the Allied Forces meeting (regarding battle plans for Pamela Plateau), as Calto's representative, she sees Agnes with Riftan again, which makes her sad and jealous. She sits with Miriam in the meeting and Riftan leads the discussion about the map.

Then Ruth cut off her thoughts when he said that at least they won’t stay in barracks. True enough, the RDK unit found a place to stay in a large inn. Meanwhile, Phil Aaron Knights will stay in a different area, they will rent out houses for the other soldiers. Then ofcourse, Maxi and the rest went in the inn. Maxi was supposed to take a warm bath, but because there is a lack of people working there, her bath wasnt readily prepared. The maid just suggested that Maxi come down to eat. Maxi went down and went immediately towards Riftan. Riftan was talking to Hebby, he noticed Maxi and smiled gently hihi. This was such a fluff scene. Riftan kept slicing the food for Maxi, like that of a servant. So Hebby teased him. lol! Then, the mood suddenly changed when the vassals of the Duke barged in the inn and commanded the whole RDK to leave immediately. what an a-hole!!!! Ofcourse, Riftan and Hebby had a pretty heated argument with the Vassals. but that A-hole kept insisting they leave. The other armies can stay, but not RDK. So Riftan was like, “ 1.) I paid for everything. 2.) Anatol never did anything illegal to Croix duchy 3.) We never harmed innocent citizens ….. BUT now you gave me a reason to hurt someone.” Chapter ended with that. Will there be a fight next chapter? Or the 4 vassals will piss on their pants and just go back to duke papa. hahahahha cowards!

The city admin chased them out from the duchy They are not even allowed to spend the night in the inn there And Maxi is already tired and sooo hungry she ate greedily. Err is she pregnant or what? Did the duke knows Maxi n Riftan are in his duchy? If yes will he invite them over to his castle?
Well I don't think Riftan will go without a fight. His last words of the chapter are we never hurt anyone without reason, so don't give me a reason to hurt somebody now. I don't know if the Duke sent this guy, more likely there is a standing order not to allow Remdragon to enter the Dutchy ever since Riftan beat up the Duke 4 years ago. But the Duke is a fool if he will deny entry to the Continental Army sent to defend his lands because Riftan is leading it. What a petty jerk. I hope Maxi gets her bath. Oh and I really do think she is preggers. And I love how Riftan likes her showing a good appetite lol, and Hebaron teasing them. Reminds me of banquets in Anatol. Its like Maxi is home wherever Riftan and Remdragon are.
I hope next chapter Maxi goes to the castle and kicks her fathers ass. Show him that shes not afraid of him anymore.
I am curious to see whether it will really come to a fight or a duel or whether Maxi will intervene and change things for the better or change the man's mind with words.
Im also wondering if maybe in a few chapters Riftan will go to his mothers grave and let go of his anger of her. He doesnt need to forgive her but tell her he is ready to let go of the pain she caused him. Then Maxi will spot him and realize he lived at Croix too.
I totally agree: Maxi will need to solve this, sooner or later. I wouldn't put it past the Duke to somehow corner Riftan with stupid circumstances (like he did kn the past) and jail him, and Maxi has to negotiate his release or something. And in the meantime Breston would put up his hand to lead the army in Riftans absence, trumping Uslkn/Hebaron. This chapter brings to the forefront all the unfinished business they have with her father. Oh my god.
