Hello. I just noticed that some novels with many good reviews received low ratings. Since users could vote without leaving a review, some were not taking it seriously and were trolling some novels by giving 1 stars or 2 stars without reading it. I think that it's okay to give 1 stars or 2 stars, however, they must at least give a reason for doing so. So I thought, why not limit the rating system to those star votes with reviews. What I mean is, only include the star votes with reviews in the stats and calculations of ratings. It might just be my opinion, but it's really weird seeing a novel with many five star reviews but with a low overall rating that's why I'm bringing this up.
Ratings are simpler to do, most people are too lazy to make reviews, so if they were like this, the amount of ratings on each novel would be restricted to a very small amount of the readers, which will not show the overall view of the majority of them... So I think it's a bad idea.
There has been consideration to us the Bayesian Rathing system (the one Manga Updates uses) but no word from @Tony yet.
A lot of novels get low ratings just bacause it's yaois or has ntr tag. Or simply bacause they don't like the cover or title.

What's bad to me is that there are many folks who take things for granted. Well, you're right when you said that people are lazy to type reviews but I still felt bad for those novels which received bad ratings just because there are people who loves trolling. If the rating system would remain the same, at least I think something should be done to limit those kind of cases.
Does it really matter? Seems superflous. Besides, a lot of the time they're not trolling, but simply dislike the novel.
Well they obviously dislike BL novels, so it gets a lower rating right? Ratings are superficial anyway, so who cares?
Hmmm... we could ignore outliers? But what makes an outlier? Lol A long time ago I made a feature request to split the rating into multiple parts. Possible Things Translation Quality Personal Enjoyment Plot Etc And then have the overall be an average of those stars. It would give more variety to the rating system and allow people to see why something was given a low rating at a quick glance. It was rejected with a "People would be too lazy and we have reviews for that" orz
Well... our review system is barely touched imo. Maybe I'll do some research and post the results in the admin subforum

There is no such thing as the perfect review system. At best, I will upgrade it a little or add little things to it but there will be no major changes. Even if I change it, there will people who will abuse it and other people will complain about it. Should I change it each time someone complains? Nope. People will have to learn to live with the current rating system. It's no where close to perfect but I like the current review/rating system.
