Warning : PG stuff, Adult stuff, and ABO related stuff. The secks talk if you will.

This piece of history here might be one of the reason we have so many ABO stories in NovelUpdates. Quite interesting seeing the past of Asia that may have affected current novel trends.

Incase you didn't know, ABO is Alpha/Beta/Omega... also known as Omegaverse in NU genre tags. I've been seeing some connections here and there (and we could just generalize it to the usual MxM stuff but for some reason I feel like it fits the ABO theme more).

Usually, I'd very interested in Japanese culture and history, but this time I think I'll pass it up. :sushi_hide:

What would you have considered as some of the parallels between ABO and the history of wakashu? From what I have understood from the video, it seemed more or less just influence on the general power dynamics and tropes found.

I just realized Haku from Naruto was probably a Wakashu and Zabuza was fucking his ass. :hmm:

Well, iirc, the sex part was common, but not necessary, as the main point of the tradition was to mentor the youth.

That being said, quite an interesting theory to put out there. I wonder how many Naruto fans will come across your comment and feel that you have soiled their memory of the series.

EDIT: I see you have already ruined one person's.

There has always been a popular theory that Zabuza was in a sexual relationship with Haku though, just that people thought they were gay. Now that I know that there's a whole culture about grooming youths during the Edo period, it's pretty clear what Kishimoto was referencing with Haku.
