By providing ToS, they are telling you the terms. That's why it's called Terms of Service.

I'm sure most of the established authors will know this. I mean, many of them are already publishing ebooks. IF this platform becomes bigger, then maybe posting a few teaser chapters might be beneficial, but as of now, no one should want to publish anything on it over places like RRL.

I wanna see RRL get a DMCA notice for posting something that "belongs" to qidian there despite the author put it up there first before unknowingly gave their rights to their own novel to QI. Lol

Advice for everyone: Just because it's in the Terms of Service does NOT mean it's legal / lawfully right for everyone. In some countries it may confirm with their lax laws but other countries have strict laws.

No, everytime you want to upload some kind of intelectual rights contents you have to get pop up showing right in front of your face saying "Are you sure you want to gib us dissss???"

This is how proper file hosting like Commons.Wikimedia works and their file/videos/photos as expected are legal GLOBALLY.

if you're stupid enough to randomly publish your own web novel on a site expecting money its totally your own fault falling for terms like that. they're not unfair, it's commpletely your own choice if you decided to publish on qidian, they're not forcing you to, and they're not saying you're gonna make money from it. pretty sure people on rrl does not get any money either, only difference being that the makers of rrl probably doesnt get much money either, and do anyone here even know if qidian is gonna make any money from inkstone? like by ads or something?

doesnt work like that, the author owns the rights, neither QI nor RRL has any rights to it

    Very different.

"...you hereby grant Wattpad.com a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and perform the User Submissions in connection with the Wattpad.com Website. " Here you're only giving them the rights to distribute through their website. QI terms states that they can publish your work in ANY medium.

    In QI, you get nothing
In Wattpat, at least you still get your license

Other option is to just listen to an angry interpretation of the ToS, and save a lot of time.

no, terms of service dont have to comfort to different laws (as far as i know, not a lawyer after all), terms of service is the rules for using a service (in the name) meaning the service decides them. again, qidian is not forcing you to publish, if you dont want to be legally binded by their tos, dont publish
