bananas the fruit of a thousand uses. some of it's uses are: a gun, a comedy prop, a phone, a boomerang, sculpture material, a doll, .... a "helping hand"..... and you can also eat it.....
oh, it's pretty much nutritional and not poisonous (as far as i know) but you'll just left with it's collour smeared all over your lips or face aww, it's just not that into my taste.... btw, is this fruit well known outside of sea or general asian region?
OK HEY!! we're talking about food....not some toys...also... we don't use it for "helping hand"...bad cat
Do you know that Banana is weakly radioactive? The radioactivity came from unstable isotope kalium-40 (40-K) (or potassium for the USA people). This isotope decays with a half-life of about 1.25 billion years (4×10^16 seconds), and therefore the radioactivity of natural potassium is about 31 Bq/g – meaning that, in one gram of the element, about 31 atoms will decay every second. Plants naturally contain radioactive carbon-14 (14-C), but in a banana containing 15 grams of carbon this would give off only about 3 to 5 beta rays per second. Since a typical banana contains about half a gram of potassium, it will have an activity of roughly 15 Bq. Although the amount in a single banana is small in environmental and medical terms, the radioactivity from a truckload of bananas is capable of causing a false alarm when passed through a Radiation Portal Monitor used to detect possible smuggling of nuclear material at U.S. ports. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), isotopically pure potassium-40 will give a committed dose equivalent of 5.02 nanosieverts over 50 years per becquerel ingested by an average adult. Using this factor, one banana equivalent dose comes out as about 5.02 nSv/Bq × 31 Bq/g × 0.5 g ≈ 78 nSv = 0.078 μSv. In informal publications, one often sees this estimate rounded up to 0.1 μSv. So, Banana is radioactive~ (not really, you don't need to worry about it... Radiation from the sun and natural rock radioactivity is bigger 10μSv a day, equal to eating 100 bananas, now you know why Chimps get mutated in Planet of the Apes, it's because the freaking banana, virus? what virus?) In the word of XKCD:
though I doubt anyone would read the wall of text, this would get some people off banana for good.. yknow that right?
err, who would eat 100 banana a day? anyway, the amount of radiation it emitted is to small saying that it would effect people's view toward banana is just as ridiculous as saying that because some immunization contain a small amount of mercury in it, and could affect people's oppinion toward using it.. oh, wait...
Maybe not 100 bananas, but I don't mind putting 10 big, long and delicious banana into my wet mouth. Just imagining it makes me excited. I love licking it raw banana, from the base all the way to the tip because my girlfriend loves watching me do that. I'm licking my lips waiting for all those bananas to go all the way down my waiting throat. Just imagining it melting in my stomach gives me such an euphoric feeling. Ahhh, I'm drooling in front of my computer. More, give me more bananas. I need it so badly, I'm losing my mind from anticipation. Give me. Give me those delicious bananas. On the other hand, mercury in my blood? Noooo!!! BTW, are you Malaysian, Singaporean or Indonesian?
I once make my high school class panicked with Dyhidrogen Monoxide warning saying that DHMO can be found in cancer patient, autism patient, and can cause death by lung immersion. No one realize that DHMO is just a fancy say to say H2O, alias water. And they are high school student...... *facepalm* Then don't eat tuna. Tuna got 0.391 ppm mercury, so that means 100 gram of tuna contain 0.000391 gram of mercury or 391 microgram of mercury. Also all other sea/freshwater fish contain mercury in their blood and meat, especially large fish. But don;t worry too much, the FDA limit is 1 ppm mercury for food. However, if you are pregnant, avoid eating big fish, just in case..... For me, I limit myself eating only 1 can of tuna per week mainly because Tuna is expensive not because of health reason!
err, those are quite accurate round up... hmm, i wonder where i really came from~ wellp, not everyone is quite fond of chemistry, even the basic part beside, it's an industrial name, so it's not that common to be spoke of if im not mistaken, this pasta also gotten quite big within the internet, no? http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html ^this guy....
this threads still going! congrats @yarvic001 I have bananas sometimes but I mostly like banana cakes. I also don't like it when they're bruised so on the rare chance I do have some, I cut the bruises off
