Rewatched Terminator 2. Lasering myself to forgot the abomination that is Terminator 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8...
Vice - 6/10 - Christian Bale and the rest of the cast do a fantastic job but the story-telling method used is a 70/30 mix of standard film-making interspersed with extremely "Arty" sections (a 5+ minute section is done as a Shakespeare play etc) making what should be a fairly simple docu-drama feel more like an indie art project at times and, for me at least, that knocked down the enjoyment substantially, but only during the arty bits as the "normal bits" were fine. The story is "fairly" factual for the most part but it massively runs off the rails right at the end when it starts to linked some of the things Dick Cheney to Sandyhook for example.
Ultraman Geed The Movie: I'll Connect With the Wish! I watched the movie in parts since it was from the Ultraman New Generation Chronicle episodes. Enjoyable, loved the interactions between the Geed group and the Orb duo. Gai's polite manners when meeting a fellow Ultra backfiring on him when he realizes he is the veteran compared to the young Riku. Meanwhile Jugglus Juggler rolling his eyes on his ex-partner/nemesis' antics and terrorizing poor Leito ("It's your time to shine, Papa-san"). The Movie Kaiju was so adorable! The fight scene on the bar is entertaining and engaging since everyone (specifically the non Ultra cast) gets to shine. I'll watch it again once I actually finished Geed.
Just finished watching The Umbrella Academy. Then I went and read the wikipedia synopsis for the comic book it was based on and decided from what I read that the tv series was already worlds better than the comic.
Point Break I was very tired and needed something easy to watch. I quite enjoyed it but it was enjoyable nonsense. Makes me want to fire up Steep on the PC!
The Promise (Phuean... Thi Raluek it's original title), which is a thai horror movie. I really enjoyed it, because it was kinda scary and interesting. Even touching with a bittersweet end.
The Dark Tower Aquaman Aquaman was surprisigly good, really enjoyed it. Dark Tower is just an easy to watch action film.
Coffee and Cigarettes Fortunately the hospital didn’t filter YouTube. My VPN was acting funky even on IKEv2
Mystified - Filipino iflix original film Reunion project of the Sanggres of Encantadia (2005) aka my childhood heroes. Funny and entertaining. Reminded me strongly of the American TV show Charmed, another childhood favorite of mine.
Just watched Escape Room (2019), it was very good and had an open ending that I hope means a sequel will take place within a few days of the timeline end of the first film with the same characters. Also started to watch something called Mfkz (2018), seemed interesting but wasn't what I was looking for right now so I put it back into my queue. Also watched Time Trap (2017), was pretty good, wish the movie had lasted another 5-10 min to give it a more fulfilling epilogue. And watched Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. It was a nice modern update of the old book, in fact I wouldn't mind seeing more of them done with the same actresses/actors, though I suspect they would have to scale them into Tv movies instead of theatrical release to save money and do more.
Missing Link (2019) - 6/10 A run of the mill animated adventure. The animation is truly amazing and has obviously been put together with love, care and attention to detail, but the rest of the film is nothing special. It’s too slow for young children, too boring and unoriginal for adults, and although there’s plenty of jokes and slapstick, most of them don’t lead to more than a snicker.
I recently watched (i) My Dinner with Andre and (ii) Waltz with Bashir, both excellent films. They're not new films, though (if anyone's wondering).
Hacksaw Ridge - 9/10 It's really emotional, for me. I just loved world-war-2-related (or just world wars in general) movies, please recommend me with more, I want to binge-watch them. Big Stan - 10/10 It's prison comedy, what can go wrong? I loved every second of it.
