Discussion What would happen if everyone suddenly became immortal?

insanity's the only escape, sounds cool

 

Well , yeah we'd eventually kill each other.
Control of natality.
Perhaps a synthetic virus to decrease the population.
War for resources.
Suicide , a lot of suicides it's hard to live so long and not feeling tired.
Insanity , it's hard to keep your sanity for the few years we're given in this world , now imagine for hundred of years , perhaps thousands , any man that lives long enough would come to a point where they hold nothing with reverence or dearly.

 

Someday, everyone would leave Earth.
Explore the vastness of our galaxy.
Meet other sentient life forms.
Work together with them to find the truth about the universe.
I see most of all replies saying the worst outcomes.
Like we're some sort of doom bringing plague across the Earth.
But I just want to tell this to you guys.
Don't underestimate Humanity.

 

The planet cannot contain the over population so i guess it's the start of exploration of galaxy? HAHAHAHAHA

 

I would still try and kill myself.

Overpopulation would hit. We all die of entropy.

 

I assume murder would become a far more significant offense...

A moment of silence for those who are in the jail for the rest of their life

 

There would be less incentive to work if natural causes can't kill you. Meaning you could stay in subzero temperatures without naturally dying of freezing to death and don't need food etc. People could do some in-depth research since they have long time to conduct it, possibly leading to higher technology quicker.

Unfortunately this wouldn't happen since there are always people trying to subjugate others, it would become a dystopian society.

There would be lack of supply of food, overpopulation, deforestation because of expanding place of humans houses and that would be not good.
