They do it with pretty much everything, lol. It's industry standard for the anime director to take a giant gorilla diarrhea dump on the story, the 'official' translators to rework the script to fit their own feelings (quite often making a character completely different to the source) to add another level of rubbish, and in the end it may as well be plagiary.

Who even knows why it is like it is?

im sure the biggest reason most anime get fucked is because the author or the publisher accept the first offer that is made and they leave everything in the hands of a production company that might not be willing to invest much in this kind of animation. which is sad if I was a manga or webtoon author and artist the first clause on my contract would be complete control of animation decision including the right to cancel production if they try and change my work to something it isn't.

I don't get why anyone would avoid the decision to be faithful to the original work when it would almost guarantee a good profit and reviews from the fans? It's like getting a blueprint and going "I'm gonna create a new design that hasn't been tested and sell it"

Ah one artist I follow was mentioning about it not following the webtoon...
But Korean netizen can get really toxic and hateful with K-pop idols too so not surprised, they saying stuff like that.
