Hey guys(and girls), why is it that almost every new novel I see posted on NU has to be yaoi?:hmm:
Seriously, so many new novels, such awesome titles, but they all have to be yaoi~ just why?!:blobsleepless:
Is this some kind of new fad or something?:sweating_profusely:
    It's becoming very un-bear-able~:blobconfounded:
I'm not the only one thinking like this, am I? :blobfearful:

I think there is a filter to not show those in the option, but yeah, even on mangadex i have seen some overload of Yaoi and Yuri these days.

Open your mind to both disgusting and pure extremes of novels.

Maybe because supporting LGBT is the latest fashion statement or fad? These people trying so hard to make this LGBT thingy common lol

I also not a fan of yaoi/yuri novels and yep this trend kinda vexing.

I just set the setting not to show those genre and yeah there are really less choices compared to old days.

You can exclude them using NU's filtering if you don't want to see them. No need to hold it in until you grew hateful of them.

There's no restriction to what one wants to translate or read, and not much restriction to be listed on NU. It's just whether one would sacrifice their reading time to translate + share them, and the readers to support them.

The Yaoi novel translators in this case, not only generously sacrifice their time and effort to translate but there are also people who support them. IMO, this positive acceptance is one of the reasons they aren't a stigma (much) like other sensitive genre/tags.

It's not just the number of translators or the number of releases, it's also the amount of support they get from the readers in the community that ensure their continual popularity. Yaoi novels have these. Translators, and readers. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but that's just how it is. Positive feedback ensures continual growth.

Honestly I see more harem novels than yaoi novels. Then the most common are cultivation novels. Tons of those.

Well, yaoi is popular and has a huge following of people that will read it. Seeing that probably encourages more people to translate those series, which means more series to read, and... It's a growing cycle, right?

I don't think it actually reduces the amount of other novel types being translated, though. If those translators weren't translating BL, most of them just wouldn't be translating at all.

Find release filtering and put Yaoi / Yuri genres in exclude list.

As a certified(TM) straight guy, I decided to start reading a few yaoi/yuri some time ago. There's plenty of hilarious and cute stories out there, even if they're sausage fests or peach fests. Well, as long as they don't get too raunchy of course. Reborn into a Hamster for 233 Days for example is a great one, one of the most cute and hilarious romance novels I've read.

Hey, if the fujoshis like to translate those, let them. What are you going to achieve complaining? I'd be grateful if I were you, this pulls people in our community.

I would just like to state that Yaoi and Yuri are the genres that have some of the best love stories. I recommend taking one character as male and one as female if you are uncomfortable. There are plenty of hidden gems.
